Charles L.B. Macdonald

 

Dr. Charles L.B. Macdonald obtained his B.Sc. in 1994 and Ph.D. in 1998 with Neil Burford’s research group at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He then went on to be a post-doctoral fellow in Alan H. Cowley’s group at the University of Texas at Austin from 1998-2001.

After his fellowship, he became an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He obtained full professorship in 2011. During his time at U of W, Dr. Macdonald held positions of Associate Dean of Science of Graduate Studies, Acting Dean of Science, as well as serving as the Head of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

In 2018, he accepted the position of Dean of Science at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In addition to his role as Dean, he continues to pursue his passion of inorganic main group chemistry research and has established a research laboratory at Carleton.
