James LaFortune

James is a postdoctoral fellow in the Macdonald lab and currently holds an NSERC post-doctoral fellowship. He completed his B.Sc. in chemistry at the University of Ottawa in 2014 and his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at the University of Toronto in 2019. James’ research focuses on the synthesis of molecules with unique low-valent main group environments and on the synthesis and catalytic reactivity of polycationic main group-based Lewis acids. In his free time, James likes cooking, growing plants, and rock climbing.
